COIM SPA accelerates the green transition with new high-power corporate charging infrastructure

C.O.I.M. S.p.A, a multinational specializing in specialty chemicals and a leader in the production of polyesters, polyols, polyurethanes, and special resins for composite materials and coatings, has installed company-owned electric charging infrastructure at its Offanengo and Buccinasco plants, designed to facilitate the mobility of employees and visitors.

At its Offanengo production plant, COIM has chosen to install 12 single-sided columns of three-phase VIARIS COMBI+ charging stations, each with two 22+22 kW sockets, connected to a system capable of handling a total power of up to 1500 A. At its Buccinasco site, four stations from the same range are in operation, providing a total of 150 A. This is one of the highest-performing infrastructures currently installed in the company, capable of supporting very high electrical loads thanks to integration with the VIARIS SPL modulation system and the CONTAX D-0643 BUS meter developed by ORBIS.

This intelligent system measures the total power absorbed by the system in real time and automatically modulates the power available for charging, distributing it equally across all connected stations. In an energy-intensive corporate environment like COIM's, the VIARIS SPL system optimizes contracted power and prevents overloads, ensuring operational continuity and system safety even during production peaks.

All VIARIS stations are equipped with dynamic load control and networked via a master-slave configuration. This ensures that each station receives the power it needs based on the system's instant availability. The result is an infrastructure fully integrated into the business environment, where electrical reliability is a must.

Service management is made more efficient thanks to the VIARIS Charger Management (VCM) software, which allows COIM to monitor and track all charging operations, user by user. This tool allows users to view data such as duration, energy consumption, time slot, and associated costs, exporting detailed reports for internal analysis or administrative use.

Service management is made more efficient thanks to two complementary management tools:

To make the system more efficient, COIM has chosen to use employee badges to initiate charging. Employee cards can be used if the company system is compatible with the VIARIS RFID system. The number of registered cards is currently growing steadily, and the VIARIS system allows for up to 500.

With this project, COIM Group confirms its green vision, focused on integrating electric mobility into business processes to offer a sustainable and high-performance charging service.
