COIM India: new welfare initiatives to support employees

C.O.I.M. S.p.A., an Italian multinational that has manufactured chemical products since 1962 and that operates all over the world through nineteen manufacturing and trading companies, has been operating in India since 2004 with a production and commercial branch, currently employing 78 workers.

“In the wake of the pandemic, we decided to step up welfare initiatives for our workforce,” explains Alberto Lunardon, General Manager India. “These include: providing temporary life insurance for all employees, with four years’ salary to be paid if a fatal event were to occur; giving the families of our employees a laptop every four years; offering an incentive for attending educational institutions, calculated according to the number of children of school age; providing a company canteen service with scratch cooking; taking out insurance for hospital admissions and, lastly, making it possible for workers to visit a specialist doctor for a second opinion,” concludes Lunardon.

“Our commitment to the team behind the success of COIM is essential for us and is one of the main pillars of our company’s philosophy in all our countries of operation.” Giuseppe Librandi, President and CEO of COIM explains, “The wage levels at our Indian subsidiary are above the local average and staff turnover is very low - more than half of our personnel have worked for COIM for more than five or ten years. Our recent introduction of new welfare initiatives provides added incentives to build employee loyalty even further.”
