COIM invests in culture and finances the “Offanengo dei Longobardi” publication

The first volume of the new edition of “Offanengo dei Longobardi” by Marilena Casirani has been delivered to the COIM Board of Directors. This project was conceived more than forty years ago on the initiative of Mario Buzzella, the founder of COIM together with Cesare Zocchi

C.O.I.M. S.p.A, an Italian multinational that has manufactured chemical products since 1962 and that operates all over the world through nineteen manufacturing and trading companies has always been active in projects supporting culture and the local community. Aspects combined in the “Offanengo dei Longobardi” volume, written forty years ago by Maria Verga Bandirali and strongly desired by Mario Buzzella, the founder of COIM together with Cesare Zocchi.

“This is how the company should behave: it must return the good that it has received from the area where it operates. I use my father’s words to explain why we decided to support the production of a new edition of the “Offanengo dei Longobardi” publication, by Marilena Casirani. COIM is grateful to its host territory and extremely interested in making it possible to continue the studies that can provide a better understanding of its history,” explains Francesco Buzzella, a member of the Board of Directors of C.O.I.M. S.p.A.

“COIM has always invested in cultural activities, both in Italy and abroad, through our subsidiaries. This choice of ours is driven by the conviction that the sustainability of a company is not measured exclusively by the absolutely fundamental aspect of environmental protection but that it is also closely linked to its capacity to make an active contribution to the economic and cultural progress of the area where it operates”, explains Beatrice Buzzella, a member of the Board of Directors of C.O.I.M. S.p.A.

“In 2012 Maria Verga Bandirali, editor of the first edition of the volume, at the “I Longobardi a Offanengo” exhibition decided to propose to Mario Buzzella the production of a new volume of “Offanengo dei Longobardi”. Right from the start, Prof. Verga involved me as the editor of the new volume, with the objective of finding and involving distinguished scholars capable of analysing various aspects that characterize the Lombard settlement in our territory with a modern, scientifically sound approach. I am pleased that this project is officially underway,” explains Marilena Casiranieditor of the volume.

The volume, published by SAP (Società Archeologica s.r.l.), will be adopted by the universities committed to the study of the Lombards and will also be available at the specialized bookshops.
